Northland Community and Technical College in East Grand Forks closed Tuesday afternoon after it lost water service.
Becky Lindseth, the college's executive director of administrative services, said city crews removed a water meter after noticing a malfunction earlier Tuesday. The college was put on a "bypass" water line in the meantime, which become clogged with sand and sediment, Lindseth said.
"I think it was approximately noon that we noticed the diminished water pressure then (it was) pretty much nonexistent shortly thereafter," Lindseth said.
An email sent by the college Tuesday afternoon said all classes had been canceled, with the exception of those taking place in the annex building, where water was still operating normally.
She expected the college to reopen Wednesday.
