Hillcrest Senior Living, Red Lake Falls, Minn., will close the nursing home and convert it to an assisted living facility, officials announced this week.

The nursing home operation will end no later than March 31, and the 21 current residents will be relocated to other facilities in the area, according to Hillcrest owners, Jim and Kathy Birchem.

They plan to renovate the building to provide assisted living services for 21 residents, with construction beginning in April. The project is expected to be completed by November.

The remodeled building will include 10 private rooms with private baths, as well as a memory care unit for 11 residents, according to the Birchems.
