WDAZ to Televise Minn. Sec. 8A Boys Hockey Championship Game for Second Consecutive YearThe Feb. 27 game will be telecast live from Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls.
For the second year in a row, WDAZ-TV will televise the Minnesota Section 8A boys hockey championship game.
The game will air live from Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls, Thursday, Feb. 27 at 7:00 p.m.
In 2013, WDAZ televised the championship game live from the East Grand Forks Civic Center, where East Grand Forks beat Warroad 2-0. It marked the first time the Section 8A championship game was ever televised.
"WDAZ received tremendously positive feedback from viewers and sponsors in response to last year's telecast of the championship game," said WDAZ Sports Director Pat Sweeney, who will call the play-by-play of the game. "We are thrilled to televise the title game again this year."
WDAZ has a long history of live sports telecasts, having produced and aired University of North Dakota games and coaches' shows, as well as Minnesota and North Dakota high school events over the course of five decades. WDAZ will also televise the North Dakota football, hockey and basketball tournaments through the 2017-18 school year.
