After evading police in subzero temperatures for over an hour last week, 27-year-old Daniel Martinez-Briones appeared in court Friday. He's charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault, and making terroristic threats. Friday, he pleaded not guilty.

Last Friday, he evaded police for an hour after allegedly choking his girlfriend and threatening to kill her and her daughter. When his girlfriend called police, Martinez-Briones allegedly fled the trailer with a gun.

Martinez-Briones was found hiding in a shed wearing only socks, a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt. He was treated by Altru for potential frostbite. Attorney Joel Arnason says his client has a different version of what happened.

Attorney Joel Arnason said, "He did indicate to me that he believed that the charges were exaggerated and overstated and he really does feel at this point and time that he is not guilty of the charges."

The prosecution had no comment on the case. The state also brought up concerns over whether or not Martinez-Briones is in the country legally.

Martinez Briones is back in court February 18th. The defense will have a chance to suppress certain evidence.
