Senator Hoeven is holding a roundtable with state agriculture leaders, highlighting the farm bill.
The House just approved it.
The Senate will take up the five-year bill on Monday. He says the bipartisan bill includes provisions important for North Dakota, like enhanced crop insurance, help for livestock producers and sugar program continuation.
Senator Hoeven said, "Last year we had an extension, we don't want another extension this year, we want a farm bill. I've been on the conference committee and the key was getting a compromised bill between the House and the Senate, that not only the House and Senate could agree on, but Republicans and Democrats as well."
Hoeven says the Senate should have a decision by Tuesday of next week.
