MORRIS, Man. - The Red River is expected to crest at Morris soon
and to prevent Highway 75 from being submerged, the province is
adding up to a metre to the dike that surrounds the community.
An earthen ramp is also being built on the highway to get
motorists over the dike.
Traffic through the community will be reduced to two lanes, with
lower speed limits.
Officials with Manitoba Water Stewardship say the Red River rose
to 236 metres by Sunday morning.
The river is expected to crest on Monday or Tuesday.
On Friday night, Ann Cook watched in horror as a 10-metre wall
of ice moved onto her Winnipeg Beach property.
