HORACE, N.D. - A 17-year-old girl was hospitalized Sunday when the snowmobile she was riding hit a tree south of Fargo.

The accident occurred about 1:45 p.m. in a ditch along 100th Avenue South west of South University Drive, Cass County Sheriff's Sgt. Tara Morris said.

The girl, who was not identified, was traveling westbound when she hit the tree, injuring herself and significantly damaging the snowmobile, Morris said.

The girl was taken by F-M Ambulance to a Fargo hospital, Morris said. The report said the girl's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, but did not detail any known injuries or say to which hospital the girl was taken.

Morris said the driver was wearing a helmet.
