BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Libertarian Party supporters have turned
in petitions seeking the party's own column on North Dakota's
statewide ballot.
Secretary of State Al Jaeger says Libertarian Party backers need
signatures from at least 7,000 North Dakota voters. Jaeger says the
petitions turned in Tuesday will be checked over the next few days
to see if they have enough names.
If the Libertarian Party gets its own column, the party will be
able to put its own candidates on the ballot for the June primary
election and the November general election.
Currently, only the Democratic and Republican parties have their
own columns on North Dakota's statewide ballot. Other candidates
are usually listed as independents.
