The Grand Forks School Board has selected architects for two high school theater projects. The firms will design a new theatrical facility at Red River High School and remodel the existing facility at Central High School. Tonight the Board selected EAPC Architects for the Red River High School Music/Theater Arts Project. It chose JLG Architects for the Central High School Project. Both firms are based in Grand Forks.
The board got six proposals for each project and selected three firms to interview. An interview team evaluated the firms and their recommendations were approved by the School Board tonight. This will begin the design phase of the project, and after the board approves those specifications, it will authorize bidding.
"People that we picked, we thought had great expertise in the area of music and theater arts. We saw many designs and many photos of things that they have built," said Christie Aleshire, who was part of the interview team.
Grand Forks Superintendent Larry Nybladh says they have the capacity to do the multi-million dollar projects without raising taxes.
