Kennedy Woman Makes Initial Appearance on Church Thefts

A Kennedy woman made her initial appearance today on charges she stole nearly $30,000 dollars from a church in Kennedy.

A Kennedy woman made her initial appearance today on charges she stole nearly $30,000 dollars from a church in Kennedy.

Margie Holmgren, 47, is charged with 3 counts of felony theft for stealing nearly $30,000 dollars from the Maria Lutheran Church in Kennedy.

Holmgren was the church treasurer.

The complaint states that the theft happened over a period of three years. A review of the church's finances in March revealed the missing cash and was reported to authorities who arrested Holmgren.

The maximum sentence for each county of felony theft is ten years in prison and a $20,000 dollar fine.

Holmgren was released on her own recognizance.

She did not enter a plea today.

She will be back in court on May 25th.
