Archie Fool Bear/Nickname Supporter:"The name is not racist, the name doesn't create racism; it's what you take and make of it."

Archie Fool Bear says many people on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation were upset when the State Board of Higher Education made the decision to retire the Sioux nickname and logo without a reservation-wide vote. Fool Bear says this issue should have never been an issue.

Archie Fool Bear/Nickname Supporter: "There has been a lot of good and positive input from people out there and that's the fear that certain council people on Standing Rock are seeing that the people don't have a problem with this name. There has never been a problem, but you get one or two people to go to a certain council people that makes the issue who take it and blow it out of proportion."

Fool Bear says Standing Rock gave UND the right to use the name "Fighting Sioux" back in 1969 through a special ceremony. He says because that name was given by the Sioux people, there is no giving it back.

Antonio American Horse Jr./Logo Supporter: "People who are anti-logo that's not in our custom and our ways of life; once we have given something it's permanent, and we can never take it back."

So far the Standing Rock Tribal Council has not allowed a reservation-wide vote on the use of the nickname. Fool Bear says council members need to start listening to the people and not trying to enforce their views on everyone on the reservation.

Archie Fool Bear/Nickname Supporter:"We go across the world to bomb a guy because he's a dictator, and we got the same kind of thing happening here; we want people that just want to be dictators; they want to tell you how they feel; they want you to feel their way you know, and that's not me."

These supporters say that it's also hypocritical for the schools on the Sioux Reservations to have mascots like the Fighting Sioux and the Warriors and not allow UND to keep the name "Fighting Sioux".

Fool Bear says they're going to continue pushing for a reservation-wide vote on the Standing Rock Reservation.
