A group of UND student body senators are planning to introduce a resolution that calls for the student support of the tribe's on the sioux logo decision.

Student Senator Matt Johnson is author of the resolution. He says it is intended to show support for the Spirit Lake and Standing Rock Tribes. Johnson believes it is their decision and not the North Dakota Higher Education Board's on whether to keep the Fighting Sioux name.

Matt Johnson / UND Student Senator :

"We feel these tribes are the ones who deserve the final say in the matter. Whether they support it or not we as the student body of UND, stand by then in that decision is truly theirs to make and no one else."

Johnson will introduce the resolution at next weeks student senate meeting.
