GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - Federal court officials in North Dakota
are seeking comments from attorneys and the public on whether Grand
Forks-based U.S. Magistrate Judge Alice Senechal should be
appointed to another four-year term.
Senechal has held the post since 1990. Her current term ends
Nov. 14.
A panel of citizens will consider her reappointment and make a
recommendation to U.S. district judges Ralph Erickson and Daniel
Hovland, who have the final say.
Senechal handles preliminary proceedings, including arraignments
and detention hearings in criminal cases, and presides over trials
in misdemeanor and civil cases.
The deadline for comments is May 1.
