People living in Thompson may get help with home repairs. The city is applying for a Community Development Block Grant for a housing rehabilitation project. Low income homeowners may get funding for repairs on items like plumbing, electrical, roofs, and even siding. Housing and Urban Development provides funding each year for communities in need. Housing Program Coordinator Janet Dvorak says they're looking at providing funding five or six homes.

"The city of Thompson applied for a housing rehabilitation project several years ago and also Walsh County applied. Walsh County got the funding that year and so this year we thought we would invite an application from Thompson," Dvorak said.

Dvorak will be in Thompson next Monday to meet with people about applying and answer questions. The funds are expected to be released in June or July, and it's still not known how much money Thompson could get.
