Both schools on the Grand Forks Air Force Base will stay open through next school year.
The enrollment between the Twining and Eielson Schools is predicted to drop to 312 students next school year. 300 is the threshold to when the board would talk about consolidation. The board says next school year will see a drop of 96 students which is less severe than they expected. They will track the population and make a decision on closure later in the year.
"We've set a timeline of late fall in the next school year to make decisions, so in November, December, January will start making some decisions on whether we want to reconfigure the schools or not."
If they do consolidate, the kids from Eielson will move to Twining Elementary
