Sheriff: Letters Detailing Safranski Disappearance Not Credible

Marshall County authorities say a letter found detailing the night Veronica Safranski disappeared is not credible.

Marshall County authorities say a letter found detailing the night Veronica Safranski disappeared is not credible.

Marshall County Sheriff John Novacek says the letter was found this week, and is similar to letters sent out to other local law enforcement agencies about Safranski's disappearance. He says the county has been receiving or finding the letters since January. Novacek says all of the letters contain similar information.

The letters claim to be from someone who was present the night Safranski disappeared. Novacek says they tracked down the man who sent the letters and say he is not credible and has no connection to the case.

Argyle woman Veronica Safranski was last seen in October of 1996 at a halloween costume party at Mick's Bar in Warren.

Authorities only ever found a belt from Safranski's costume. She was seen leaving the party with a man with a history of sexual assaults.

He was questioned but never arrested.

Safranski has never been found.
