You may have noticed hundreds of pinwheels at the intersection of DeMers Avenue and South Washington Street in Grand Forks. In fact there are 502 pinwheels in all. They are there because April is Prevent Child Abuse Month. Each pinwheel represents one of the kids that's been saved by the Amber Alert System since it began. The Pinwheel Committee is trying to help prevent child abuse and raise awareness with the pinwheels.

"It's just really important that our parents learn to take an active role and to just make sure that their kids are being safe," said Pinwheel Committee Chair Melanie Maslo.

A UND social work class will be hosting an event at the Memorial Union tomorrow night to promote safety in cyberspace. It's at 6:30 in the Lecture bowl.
