Stabbing Suspect Held In Jail On Drug Charge

A Thief River Falls man who is a suspect in a stabbing death there is being held on a drug crime. Daniel Molstad, 19, has not been charged in connection to the stabbing death of Matthew Shepard, 23.

A Thief River Falls man who is a suspect in a stabbing death there is being held on a drug crime.

Daniel Molstad, 19, has not been charged in connection to the stabbing death of Matthew Shepard, 23.

Molstad made a court appearance today on a 5th degree conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime.

It was his first appearance on the crime. The court administrator's office says no bond was set and he will remain in jail until another hearing on May 10th.

Thief River Falls police say they got a call about 10:15 monday night from a nurse after Matthew Shepard was dropped off at the Thief River Falls emergency room with stab wounds. He died of those wounds.

Molstad was arrested in connection with the stabbing but has not been charged with anything related to it.
