The national letter carriers food drive kicked off at Super One Foods Thursday, with a 5000 pound donation by the store.
Letter Carriers are asking the community to donate non perishable food items and toiletries.
You can leave donations out by your mailbox this Saturday or bring them to Super One Foods.
The donations made will go to people in the Grand Forks area.
"Its for the people who are in need of this. At any given time any one of us might have to go to the food company," said USPS Letter Carrier Ralph Honda.
This is the 18th year for the food drive and only 17 million pounds are needed to pass the 1 billion mark nation wide. Ralph Honda said he thinks they will raise 4 times that amount.
