DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) - Emergency crews in the flooded Devils Lake region say battered, water-logged roads are making their jobs difficult.
Elvera Snyder, co-director of the Lake Region Law Enforcement 911 Center, says the distance crews must travel to reach some parts of the region are now double or triple.
She says it has gotten to the point where the question is not"what's your address?" but "how can we get there?"
Devils Lake has tripled in size since 1993 and hit record levels, causing hundreds of millions of dollars in damage. Officials have struggled for years to keep roads from being swamped.
State Transportation officials say they once again are planning several road raising and repair projects this year.
