ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Gov. Tim Pawlenty has signed a bill that tightens restrictions on some tobacco products.
The new law broadens the definition of tobacco products to include new electronic cigarettes that deliver puffs of nicotine vapor. It does the same for tobacco strips that dissolve in the mouth.
It prohibits retailers from selling the products to minors or displaying them in open areas. Violating the law risks up to 90 days in jail and a fine up to $1,000.
The state banned smoking in restaurants and bars in 2007.
