Today the University of North Dakota graduates had a guest all the way from Washington D-C. Secretary of Homeland Security Jane Napolitano had some wise words for the class of 2010.
It is impressive having the Secretary of Homeland Security give the commencement speech at your graduation. It seems Janet Napolitano was just as impressed with North Dakota.
"We have all been impressed by the way people of this state rally, by the way they open their homes to their neighbors."
Today was the 122nd commencement for the University of North Dakota. Napolitano said it was a big day for the thousands of students ready to face a changing world.
" It is a world of rapid change. A world that is more networked and linked together than ever before. A world that moves at internet speed."
Napolitano has been called a pioneer when coordinating homeland security efforts. Today, however, she had some advice about Twitter.
" Some of you are probably sending tweets right now. STOP IT!"
Before the students became graduates, Napolitano encouraged everyone to look ahead to opportunities. It was one last lesson to go along with their diplomas.
" When you think ahead, anticipate change, prepare for the changes to come and resolve to get back up when knocked down, then the sky is the limit for your dreams and for your future
