The story of a Grand Forks woman charged with child abuse or neglect for letting a child wander onto a Devils Lake highway will be featured on the nationally-aired Nancy Grace Show Tuesday.

Authorities say Chelsea Walkingeagle, 18, smoked marijuana in a garage on April 21 while the 3-year-old child wandered off and ended up on state Highway 20 in Devils Lake. The child was rescued by a sheriff's deputy.

Walking Eagle could face up to five years in prison if convicted of the felony charge.

She will enter a plea on June 17.

The Nancy Grace Show is a justice themed/interview/debate show that airs on the HLN channel Monday-Sunday nights. The show often features stories about crimes against children. Devils Lake radio news director Eric Arndt of KZZY radio will be a call-in expert guest on the show. Devils Lake State's Attorney Lonnie Olson also said he was asked to talk about the case. The show featuring the Walkingeagle case will air locally Tuesday night at 7:00pm and 9:00pm on HLN.
