Cabela's Promotes National Safe Boating Week

Cabela's is promoting National Safe Boating Week with a special giveaway today.

One lucky customer got a $1,000 prize package with the essentials for water safety. Helping the cause were officials from Polk County and Minnesota State Conservation. The two teamed up to give residents safety tips. They said make checklists, be prepared and wear a life jacket even if you are a good swimmer.

"They'll always say, 'i'm such a good swimmer," That's why they don't have them along. Or they have them stored under the cooler. They do have to be readily accessible," said Conservation Officer Stuart Bensen

Bensen also emphasized there are different styles and sizes of life jackets so everyone can have a safe time in the water.
