Warrant Issued For Budget Inn Express Clerk

Grand Forks Police responded to a robbery call made by motel clerk Richard Edwin Stephens on April 1; now a felony theft of property warrant has been issued for his arrest.

There is new information tonight on a robbery that took place at the Budget Inn Express in Grand Forks last month.

Grand Forks Police responded to a robbery call made by motel clerk Richard Edwin Stephens on April 1st; now a felony theft of property warrant has been issued for his arrest.

According to court documents while working at the hotel, Stephens obtained his own receipt book, gave hotel guests handwritten receipts, and neglected to put guests in the computer system.

Over the last several months Stephens allegedly took more than $10,000 dollars.

After cooperating with the police investigation, Stephens disconnected his phone and has since disappeared.

Grand Forks police are continuing the investigation.

The robber, who is on the run, was described as a white man who stands 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 200 pounds.
