BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - An aviation pioneer in North Dakota has died.
Bob Watts died Tuesday in Bismarck at age 92. Funeral arrangements are pending.
Watts and his brother, Jack, founded Capital Aviation in 1945.
He flew for the military in World War II, and flew passenger and cargo missions over the Himalaya Mountains into China.
Watts also served as a pilot for Harold Schafer, who founded the Gold Seal Co. and is credited with helping develop Medora into a tourist town. Schafer's widow, Sheila, says Watts would land the plane on a hill before an airport was built in Medora.
Watts is a member of the North Dakota Aviation Hall of Fame.
