WIMBLEDON, N.D. (AP) - More than 80 people gathered at a church in Wimbledon to celebrate what would have been the 90th birthday of the late singer and actress Peggy Lee.

Lee graduated from high school in the eastern North Dakota community. The Jamestown native died in 2002 after an entertainment career spanning six decades.

People at the party on Wednesday swapped stories of Lee. Memorabilia was put on display, and some of her songs were sung.

Barnes County Historical Society curator Wes Anderson says Lee is "a celebrated North Dakotan," and her music will not be forgotten.

Lee's accomplishments include three No. 1 hits, an Oscar nomination and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
