YANKTON, S.D. (AP) - A winning $10 million lottery ticket is
causing a stir in Yankton.
South Dakota Lottery officials on Thursday announced the winning Hot Lotto ticket, which the winner has 180 days to claim.
Janelle Wieseler in Yankton says it's exciting to see anyone win that amount of money. Resident Delbert Mendlik says the most he has ever won is about $20.
Former business owner Bobbi Trimble says $10 million would be good for the city. But other residents have a little different perspective. John Andrus says if he were the winner, "I'd be on a plane."
The odds of winning the Hot Lotto jackpot are one in almost 11 million. The game is played in the District of Columbia, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Vermont and West Virginia.
