Some people in Hatton were a little shaken up by a train that derailed right in the middle of town.

Some people in Hatton were a little shaken up by a train that derailed right in the middle of town.

The Burlington Northern Santa Fe train was traveling south when one of the cars jumped the track then started to drag other cars off the tracks as the train kept going.

Four cars carrying soybeans flipped on their sides...leaving four other completely off the tracks.

No one was hurt, but the derailment left highway 18 completely blocked for about an hour.

Conrad Steinhaus/Trail County Sheriff's Department: "We have maintained traffic in Hatton the railroad was able to break the train and open up a crossing in Hatton that had been plugged earlier."

Railroad officials say it should take 24 hours before they can start cleaning up the mess because of the holiday weekend.
