A baby that was born while the mother was driving to the hospital was given some gifts today for his extraordinary birth. Chevrolet sent a representative from New York to deliver these gifts.
"Whether traveling with a load that's light or heavy, performance is better, nothin can beat her life is completer in a chevy....."
When Chevrolet found out that Amanda Norgard gave birth to her son while driving her Chevy Cobalt, they couldn't think of anything else that could make life sweeter in a Chevy.
Chris Kooluris/Communications With GM:"We quickly barnstormed what could we do for this terrific story, for this terrific family and with in 24 hours we were in contact with the family made them an offer to them they were super excited and with in a week were here and dropping off some great supplies."
Norgard Gave birth to her son Joseph while driving herself to the hospital in her Chevy Cobalt May 19. So Chevy teamed up with Safe Kids Grand Forks to install three new car seats today for the Norgard's three children.
Carma Hanson/Safe Kids Coordinator: "Anytime you are dealing with a small vehicle and you are dealing with three car seats it becomes a challenge so, we wanted to make sure that they were in correctly and so that's why we were so willing to drive out here."
The Norgard family is still in shock to find out that they are national news and that Chevrolet would take an interest in their family.
Joseph Philips/Father:"It was 100 percent unexpected it has me awe struck in so big of a way that a corporation so large can sit there and think the regular people like us."
But even a big corporation sees the value in a small town family's story of life.
Chris Kooluris/Communications With GM: "Millions of people are driving our cars, and every once in a blue moon an amazing story like this takes place and we want to show people we are listening to them and are happy they are driving our cars..."
Gifts supplied were a years worth of diapers, toys for the whole family and other baby supplies.
