Minnesota Foreclosures Up

Foreclosure filings in Minnesota are up 7 percent in May, compared to a year ago, outpacing national foreclosure activity.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Foreclosure filings in Minnesota are up 7 percent in May, compared to a year ago, outpacing national foreclosure activity.

Figures from RealtyTrac of California show Minnesota had 3,167 foreclosure filings in May, including default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions. About half of the filings were bank repossessions.

Across the country, foreclosures rose less than one-half of 1 percent, compared to May 2009.

Finance and Commerce reports foreclosure activity in Minnesota dropped 3 percent in May when compared to April.
