BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The state Department of Agriculture is holding workshops to help land owners battle North Dakota's peskiest plant.

Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says Canada thistle infests more than a million acres in the state.

Goehring says the workshops will provide the latest information for controlling the weeds.

The first 50 people at each workshop will receive a container of Canada thistle gall flies, which lay eggs in the stems of the weed and weakens it.

The workshops will be held June 22 in Mandan and June 29 in Devils Lake.
