As of Monday the Grand Forks County Auditor's office has not heard from Chris Hutton's attorney asking for the recount after a close race on the primary election ballot for sheriff.
Just fifty-five votes separated Grand Forks County Sheriff candidates Mike Flannery and Chris Hutton in last week's primary election for the second spot on the November ballot. Major Bob Rost was the top vote-getter in the primary race and will also advance to November.
It appeared at that time that Hutton would ask for a recount.
A recount can be demanded in writing three days after canvassing has been finalized.
That was done this morning.
For now Grand Forks Police Detective Mike Flannery and Sheriff's Department Major Bob Rost will be on the general election ballot in November.
We could not reach Hutton today by phone.
