While immigration debates heat up in Arizona, one lecture offered another look at immigration here in town.

The Exploring Diversity in Our Communities symposium aims to create cultural dialogues. Sponsored by the University of North Dakota's Conflict Resolution Center, forums took a look at race relations, racial profiling and immigration practices past and present. Attorney Sue Swanson says the law in Arizona is creating a dialogue for people and helping them to explore new ideas about immigration.

"It's incredibly difficult to be legal. Our immigration system is in such need of reform. It's more complicated than the IRS tax code. And that over time all we've had are bandaid fixes," said Swanson.

Swanson addressed this and racial profiling in her lecture today. The symposium is being held at the Hilton Garden Inn and goes the rest of the week.
