The tornado that touched down just after 4:30 p.m. in Emerado caused some major damage about three miles east of the town.

Homes in the Berger Edition just east of Emerado were damaged when a tornado with high winds and strong rain hit them.

"People come running at me, then I really started screaming. I was scared," Nancy Barner, owner of a destroyed barn, says.

Nancy and Jim Barner's barn was destroyed when a tornado touched down earlier tonight.

Nancy was just pulling into the garage at about 4:30 as the storm hit. She stayed in her car just feet away from the barn.

"And all of a sudden I heard more banging and clanging and stuff and I got really scared. Then finally when it died down the neighbors come running over, heard me screaming, got me to come out of the garage- I didn't want to come out. So I finally came out and I walked into this mess back here," Nancy Barner says.

That mess used to be a barn, and inside is a pickup, a tractor, lawn mowers, a snow mobile, and a four wheeler.

The Barner's neighbors had damage as well.

This house was pushed about 8 feet off its foundation.. A single-car garage used to be next to this shed.. A camper was parked here.. And this red shed was picked up and turned 180 degrees.

Dick Hiebert lives in the neighborhood and says he hasn't seen damage like this in at least seven years.

"Shingle damage and stuff like that you know, yup. A lot of straight line winds or strong winds, but you know, from then till now is about the worst," neighbor Dick Heibert says.

Most of the homes in the area have shingle damage.

There was also siding blown blocks away into fields and wood from the barn stuck into the ground all over the area.
