The Grand Forks Airport is seeing a significant increase in passengers. Last month, and for the entire year, more people are flying out of Grand Forks.
Compared to last year the numbers of passenger flying out of Grand Forks is up 12 percent and the month of Septembers is up even more.
That's up 29 percent compared to last September.
This September there were close to 74,00 passengers, last September just 59,000.
The airport's director says it a direct result of Allegiant Air coming to Grand Forks.
He says flights to Las Vegas at low prices are catching the attention of travelers.
Patrick Dame: "it's the stimulation of the Allegiant flights that's really boosting the numbers. We have seen a decrease in aircraft size from Delta that has brought their numbers down a little bit
Starting November 13th Allegiant will start flying to Phoenix from Grand Forks.
Dame says that should again increase numbers even more into early next year.
