According to the National Weather Service, last weeks storms might carry over to this week creating potential for more severe weather before this weekend.

Data Acquisitions Program Manager Mark Ewens said there are several factors for this summer's increased tornadic activities. One being a weather-related occurrence this winter. He says the summers following an El Nino, which happened this past winter, have more tornados. Last week the National Weather Service issued as many if not more tornado warnings than all of last summer.

"With the large number of tornados we've had, this trend looks like it could well continue. Although we do typically see a drop off in severe weather in July," said Ewens.
