The rain has slowed the progress of the new terminal but not enough to push back the spring deadline.
Airport Officials say that the new airport is about 60 percent done. The new airport is going to be twice the size of the old airport but it may not look like it from the outside.
Patrick Dame/Executive Director:"So we expect that this is going to be much larger than the existing facilities so I think that as they get they will really notice the difference in size were looking at it from the road can be a little deceiving right now."
There has been some minor delays with the rain and funding for the project has been coming in chunks which have also been slowing the project down.
Patrick Dame/Executive Director:"We are still waiting for the federal Government to pass a bill an aviation bill which our funding is tied to for the terminal as those things progress that will determine whether or not we will get the project done by spring or the fall. "
With 70 percent of the walls and most of the tarmac done, architect Tom Behm (beam) says that all seven contractors have been working well together to get done by the spring deadline.
Tom Behm/Airport Architect:"We have geo thermal, we have well drilling going on, interior partitions going on, concrete pouring going in overall the project is going very well."
The airport is estimated to cost around 22.5 million dollars.
