People living along 51st Street in Grand Forks are frustrated about trucks driving through their neighborhood. Monday night the Grand Forks City Council talked about whether it should allow trucks to use 51st Street past 10th Avenue North.
Trucking companies in the area say they don't regularly use 51st Street, but sometimes semi drivers get lost. They say it's only about one truck a day that uses 51st.
Craig Johnson, the owner of White Water Truck Wash, says, “To establish a truck route just for trucks, that isn't what we're looking for. What Ron is suggesting and myself is for the ones that need to get out of there. If we can get the ones that have gone too far over to 55th somehow or get out of there somehow.”
Some people in the neighborhood say the trucks are wrecking the road, and it's a safety hazard.
The council will vote on the issue next week.
