Manitoba Public Insurance says arsonists torch about 250 vehicles in the province each year.
The Crown insurance company says the reasons for the arsons can range from a firing or a nasty divorce to an unpaid drug debt.
The company also says about 60 to 70 per cent of the arsons are not started by the vehicle owner.
M-P-I gets about 12-hundred claims every year for burned vehicles, but most of the fires are caused by electrical problems or faulty repair work.
