The Importance Of The FourthWhether it's celebrating our independence, spending time with family or simply loving those fireworks, the Fourth of July is important to each person for a different reason.
The Fourth of July is special to people for many different reasons. Whether it's celebrating our independence, spending time with family or simply loving those fireworks...
People are celebrating the 4th of July in Grand Forks today, and everyone has a reason why the day is special to them.
"I think Independence is more like for all of us just to celebrate the Fourth of July." said Darla Wohler.
"Lots of people wearing red, white and blue." said Brea Graves.
"I'd have to say the fireworks. I do like that if it was either growing up and shooting bottle rockets or the big displays." said Sertoma event volunteer Angie Reinhart
For some, the holiday is not only about celebrating today, but the past as well.
"When John Adams was writing to Abigail that we should take time to celebrate our independence and remember the people who have fought for it and take a little bit of time to spend with your family and reflect on that." said event organizer Paul Waind.
People say it's a day to think about those who have helped move the country forward.
"I've had a brother in the military and a grandfather and it's just to support our country and I'm really for that." Reinhart said.
Remembering those who fought for our freedoms, and those who still fight today.
"It's also about being patriotic and the love of our country and what it stands for. The freedom, the independence."said Reinhart.
People say that no matter what, the day is about spending time with friends and family, and not to forget the past in our celebrations today.
