"We want seniors to know that our administration will be making them a top priority," Mark Dayton, Minn. DFL governor candidate, says.

The needs of senior citizens have been a top priority throughout Dayton's campaign for Minnesota Governor.

His "Serve Our Seniors" Tour visited East Grand Forks to talk about topics such as healthcare and prescription drugs.

"Fifteen billion dollars of our prescription drugs are imported from other countries already. Ireland is the main manufacturing site for one of the major companies," Dayton says.

Dayton and his running mate Yvonne Prettner Solon have a five-point plan that features a senior service center in the office of the lieutenant governor.

"We just felt it would be a good idea if we had one number that seniors could call to ask questions or to get information about whatever it is that they need," Yvonne Prettner Solon, Dayton's running mate, says.

Questions about Local Government Aid and Minnesota's multi-billion dollar budget deficit were also brought forward.

"They're going to have to take a good look at what they can help small cities with, because small cities are really hurting because of LGA cuts and they don't have a good tax base," East Grand Forks Mayor Lynn Stauss says.

Though the East Grand Forks City Hall was only one of many stops along Dayton's campaign trail, many people see the importance.

"Every candidate that's running for governor should come here and I hope they will. I want to listen to all of them to see what they're trying to change," Stauss says.

"There's a lot of interaction between North Dakota and Minnesota, especially in a community like Grand Forks and East Grand Forks. We cooperate on a lot of things," Representative Lonny Winrich, ND Legislature District 18, says.

Dayton and Solon made two stops in Moorhead and visited the Good Samaritan Heritage Grove in East Grand Forks today.
