Grand Forks County Sheriff's Deputies disarmed a pipe bomb found on a county road this morning. The pipe bomb was found a quarter mile from the East Walle Church which is near Thompson, ND.

Sgt. BJ Maxson of the Grand Forks Regional Bomb Squad says the call came in about 10:00am that a farmer had found a pipe bomb on the side of the road 7 miles southeast of Grand Forks, about a quarter of a mile west of the East Walle Church. The church is located at 746 9th Street NE and is near Thompson.

Maxson says the 6 inch pipe was capped at both ends and had a fuse coming out of one end.

He says the bomb squad was called and a robot was used to diffuse the bomb.

Maxson says they are investigating to find out how long the pipe bomb had been on the road and who put it there.
