UND defenseman Jake Marto says he will be sidelined four to six weeks with a broken left ankle.
However, Marto says he does not expect the injury to prevent him from playing his senior season at UND, which begins in October.
Marto told WDAZ Sports Monday night that he was injured last Friday at a camp for Chicago Blackhawks' prospects.
"I chased after a puck and got tripped by a guy behind me," Marto said. "I went into the boards feet-first, and my left ankle bent back."
Marto added, "It shouldn't affect me with the Sioux (season). I should be fine."
Marto is a 2005 graduate of Grand Forks Central High School. Last season as a UND junior, Marto scored five goals and 13 assists for 18 points in 42 games. He has 43 points in 113 career games.
UND begins its season October 3 with a home exhibition against Manitoba. The Sioux open regular-season play Oct. 8 at Alaska-Anchorage.
