Texting While Driving Ban Still Under Review
People expressed their concerns tonight about the ban at the Grand Forks City Council meeting.
Although the proposed texting while driving ban for Grand Forks is still under review, people expressed their concerns tonight at the City Council meeting.
Many council members wanted to change the ordinance to a distracted driving ordinance last meeting but couldn't agree on the terms.
Tonight several people came to the council with their concerns and say texting while driving is worse than any other distraction in the car.
Altru Safe Kids Coordinator Carma Hanson came to the council with statistics she thinks are important to consider with the ban.
"You are texting it is adding so many more dimensions to your capability. It is not the same as eating a hamburger or putting on lipstick, I'm not saying those aren't dangerous things but it does not rise to that same level of criticalness." Altru Safe Kids Coordinator Carma Hanson said.
The city council wants to gather more information and bring the ordinance back for discussion in two weeks
