Caleb Day, 19, is charged with driving over the center line. The actual charge is "driving left of the roadway" and is a $20.00 fine.
54-year-old Randall Myers of Devils Lake was killed when the truck Day was driving crashed with a suburban towing a boat. Myers was a passenger in the suburban.
The head-on crash happened June 23 near Six Mile Bay Bridge on Highway 19.
Both Day, and the driver of the suburban were taken to hospitals with injuries.
This is the second deadly Lake Region accident in the last few months in which a driver has only faced a fine.
A car/motorcycle crash killed a Devils Lake woman on May 19th north of Fort Totten.
30-year-old Sheri Leidholt died when the motorcycle she was riding on was hit by a car driven by 92-year-old Faith Mitzel of Oberon.
Mitzel was also charged with driving on the left of the roadway.
She was fined $20.00.
