Air Force Gets New Fire StationFirefighters at the Grand Forks Air Force Base are getting a new home.
Firefighters at the Grand Forks Air Force Base are getting a new home.
The Air Force Base broke ground today for the new "state of the art" station.
The Air Force is working with the Army Corps of Engineers to construct the 13 million dollar building.
The station will have larger bays for equipment, new living quarters, and officials say it will give firefighters a better quality of life.
Corey White/GFAFB Fire Chief:"We have to, you know, look at all the different missions that we accomplish. And this facility will enable us to go and do those things more effectively, more efficiently.
Zack Williams/GFAFB Fire Fighter:"The bunk rooms are going to be a lot nicer. The facilities as far as like the work out rooms, everything like that to accommodate us for being around for 24 hour shifts is going to be a lot nicer."
The new Fire Station is scheduled to be finished in March of next year.
