Wireless internet has made its way to several arenas in town, and according to officials, it marks the first time having wireless at these sites. If all goes well, they may even expand to Riverside and Elks Pools next summer.
Grand Forks Park District says its just a way of keeping the community happy.
"We try to do what the customers want," said Superintendent of Recreation Bill Palmiscno.
What the customers want is internet access.
"We've had a lot of demand from customers. When they come to their son's hockey game or skating lessons, they would love to work on their laptops or wireless stuff in the arenas," said Palmiscno.
Both the Eagles and PurPur Arenas are ready for you to connect and log on to the internet.
"People can have that option while they're waiting."
Or while they're running at Center Court Fitness. Palmiscno said a lot of people want internet access while they work out.
" We were surprised at how many people said they would love to use their handheld equipment on a treadmill while they run."
The money comes from the facility budgets and they hope to expand to other places this year. Palmiscno says logging on will be pretty easy.
"It will be just like walking into one of the coffee shops here in town."
