BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Strong storms that crossed North Dakota uprooted large trees, destroyed a barn and led to flooding in some areas. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
The National Weather Service said the storms late Monday and early Tuesday spawned a few tornadoes, some of which touched down.
Meteorologist Len Peterson said it was not immediately known whether it was a tornado that destroyed a barn in the Balfour area in McHenry County.
There were reports of baseball-size hail in Sawyer and major street flooding and a power outage in Drake. In Munich, wind gusting up to an estimated 80 mph uprooted trees 2 feet in diameter. Fargo was hit by three waves of thunderstorms overnight.
A tornado in northeastern Montana destroyed killed two people in a farmhouse, but the system weakened after it crossed into northwest North Dakota.
