The 23rd annual Cats Incredible Fishing Tournament wrapped up today in East Grand Forks, and many anglers walked away with some large checks.
John Anderson and Tony Weber of East Grand Forks took away the top prize of $4,000 for the 10 fish they caught in two days. Their total weight was 83.43 pounds.
But the award for the biggest fish went to anglers from Nebraska.
After having a slow start yesterday, Mark Lierz and Ron Rowland caught the 21.3 pound catfish around lunchtime.
"We were gnawing on a chicken leg and we had one bite into the chicken leg when the fish took the hook. And the chicken legs went over the boat and the fish was on," angler Mark Lierz said.
Anglers from Grand Forks and East Grand Forks took home the top three prizes. The two day tournament gives away almost $22,000 in prizes.
